A man has been arrested seven years after a woman fell to her death
while travelling in India with her husband.
Colette Davies, 39, from Bridgend, died near a river bridge in Gaura
in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh in 2004.
Police who travelled to India for a review into the case - initially
found not to be suspicious - confirmed a 50-year-old man was being
questioned.
He is being held on suspicion of murder.
A spokesman confirmed on Thursday that the man, who has not been
named, had been brought to south Wales from his home in Milton Keynes
for questioning.
He had previously lived in the Bridgend area.
Detective Inspector Mark Lewis said: "Whilst I consider this arrest to
be a positive development in the investigation I am also appealing for
any information surrounding the circumstances of this death.
"Colette's family have been informed of the arrest and continue to be
supported by specialist family liaison officers."
Her body was returned to the UK where her funeral took place at
Coychurch Crematorium, Bridgend, in March 2004.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police
incident room on 01639 889732 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
